DJ Prom Knight - Wine and Painkillers, on translucent merlot vinyl. 

From the undisputed KING of side projects, we bring you another release from Equip's DJ Prom Knight alias. Wine and Painkillers was originally released in 2023 as part of Equip's monthly mixtape club, which aims to deliver a new sample-based vapor mixtape every month. The last time we released a DJ Prom Knight album was Christmas 2023 with "DJ Prom Knight Play the Holiday Party." While that was a Christmas album, this album was conceptualized as a spiritual successor and a "post-holiday hangover" album. Still, we wanted to get this out to your before Christmas because we know "Wine and Painkillers" could be the perfect description and soundtrack for the holidays for many of you.

But, the vinyl edition includes the bonus track "Soother."

Clocking in at 1 hour 4 minutes and 36 seconds, this is one of the longest albums ever printed to 1 disc, ever. A masterful technical achievement for the vinyl industry.

"The title is borne from a conversation I had with a friend back in college. In response to a comment about rapidly temps dropping and incoming snowstorm, he responded with "ah, deep winter... the season for smooth jazz, wine and painkillers." This quote really stuck with me through the years.

The sonic goal of Wine and Painkillers is to encapsulate the weight and feel of seasonal depression within the lense of slushwave. The raytraced render by CGI artist and fellow collaborator Pete Curry aka FM Skyline depicts a warm scene of solace in the middle of a barren winter wasteland.

Released in December 2022 via Equip's Picks subscription series, Wine and Painkillers became a fan favorite and seasonal classic within the club with many requesting a vinyl version.
